Spurs Transfer News: West Ham United submit bid for Tottenham target Ruslan Malinovskyi
Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a blow as West Ham United have submitted an offer to sign Ruslan Malinovskyi from Atalanta, as per Italian outlet CalcioMercato (h/t Football.London).
Spurs have been credited with an interest in the Ukraine international who is in the final year of his contract at the Gewiss Stadium (Transfermarkt). The Lilywhites, however, are only interested in a loan move for Malinovskyi.
Hence, given the player’s contract situation, it makes sense that Atalanta aren’t interested in such a proposition. At least if they sell the players to the Hammers, they can get some fee for the former Genk player.
The Ukrainian is a talented forward who can play as a second striker as well as an attacking midfielder. He thrives in the final third of the pitch and has been vital for Atalanta in the past few seasons where they have been notably impressive in front of goal.
Spurs must bid for him
West Ham’s interest in the player needs to be taken seriously by Spurs if they are keen on signing the playmaker. The Hammers are very poor up front this season and have netted only 13 times in 17 league games – a terrible output.
Gianluca Scamacca hasn’t scored since 9 October while Maxwel Cornet hasn’t played for them in over three months. Spurs would be foolish not to make a proper bid for him.
Loaning him wouldn’t make sense considering we need players that can come in, settle, and become a part of the project. It does not make sense to bring in a player who would require either the system to be changed, considering he is a number 10, or for a superstar to be rested, to get regular time here.

It will also be a surprise if Malinovskyi agrees to such a proposal considering he will be thrown into uncertainty next summer once his spell at N17 ends. Hopefully, Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici take advantage of the experienced 29-year-old’s contract situation and chip in with a January bid.
