West Ham now have a great chance to sign Gini Wijnaldum after report makes big claim

West Ham United now have a great chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Gini Wijnaldum this summer.

That’s according to a report from L’Equipe, as cited by The Daily Mail, who claim that the 31-year-old has been transfer listed by PSG.

Hammers boss David Moyes has been heavily linked with a move to bring the 86-capped Holland international to the London Stadium for quite some time now.

The Scot is allegedly keen to bolster his central midfield ranks even further still despite recently signing Flynn Downes from Swansea City.

Mark Noble retired in the summer whilst Alex Kral was sent back to Spartak Moscow so we are definitely short of bodies in the engine room department.

It seems as though Moyes may well have a good chance to change all of that though…

West Ham in good position to sign Wijnaldum

According to L’Equipe, as cited by The Daily Mail, the 31-year-old midfielder is one of nine players to be placed on the transfer list by PSG.

We believe that the Dutchman wouldn’t be a bad signing at all. He would certainly add a wealth of winning experience to Moyes’s ranks at the London Stadium.

Firstly, we must say that signing Wijnaldum wouldn’t really fit into Moyes’s supposed Red Bull model transfer plan.

Having said that, sometimes it’s vital to add the odd bit of experience to your squad, and we believe that the Dutchman could be a really good addition for West Ham this summer.

Wijnladum left Liverpool to link up with Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer of 2021.

The 86-capped Holland international was truly world-class for Liverpool during the 2018/19 campaign and helped the Reds win the Champions League. He was brilliant once again the following season and played a key role for Liverpool during their Premier League winning campaign.

The experienced midfielder hasn’t really made any kind of impact at PSG, however, and has struggled for regular football at the Parc des Princes, however.

So an exit from Paris could well be on the cards for the Dutchman in the summer. And we think Wijnaldum would be a superb addition for West Ham.

The former Liverpool midfielder possesses exceptional technical ability and he would offer David Moyes a completely different option in the middle of the park.

He could be available for around £21 million this summer according to Football Transfers.

Perhaps that is a little bit steep in all fairness.

If West Ham could pick up Gini Wijnaldum for closer to £10 million though, we think that could be a good deal for the club.
