West Ham insider claims if David Moyes sells Issa Diop he’ll be our fifth biggest sale of all-time

West Ham insider claims if David Moyes sells Issa Diop he’ll be our fifth biggest sale of all-time

West Ham United will sell Issa Diop in the summer transfer window but only for a minimum of £18 million, with Fulham chasing his signature.

That’s according to club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that Hammers boss David Moyes is keen to move Diop on from the London Stadium this summer.

There have rumours all summer long that the 25-year-old is not wanted by Moyes anymore.

And that’s no surprise to us, given his regression over the past couple of years.

After arriving at the London Stadium in the summer of 2018 for around £25 million (The Express), Diop was one of the very best central defenders in the Premier League during his debut season.

The 25-year-old, who earns around £63k-a-week according to Football League FC, experienced a poor 2020/21 campaign though and was nowhere near his best last season either.

The 6ft 4in defender really hasn’t been great for West Ham at all over the past two years in all fairness.

He clearly isn’t good enough to be playing regular Premier League football – not for the Hammers anyway.

And it seems as though Issa Diop could be on his way…

West Ham want to sell Issa Diop

Claret and Hugh reckon that the Hammers are looking to recoup £18 million for the 25-year-old centre-back this summer.

Fulham are said to have already offered £12 million for Diop and will have to significantly up their offer if they are to prise him away from the London Stadium (Claret and Hugh).

If we do sell Diop for £18 million, he would become our joint fifth biggest sale of all-time with Rio Ferdinand and behind Dimitri Payet, Marko Arnautovic, Andre Ayew and Sebastien Haller.

The 6ft 4in centre-back has played just 50 Premier League games under David Moyes in two-and-a-half years (Transfermarkt). So it’s clear to see that the Scot isn’t a big fan of him.

With Nayef Aguerd’s arrival at the London Stadium, the ex-Toulouse defender faces a bleak future with West Ham. He’s now our fifth choice centre-back.

Selling him will 100% be the right call in the summer transfer window.

If West Ham manage to get £18 million for Issa Diop, it would be brilliant business for the club.
