West Ham face a battle with Lyon to sign Justin Kluivert for £12.6 million

West Ham United are set to battle it out with Lyon to sign Roma attacker Justin Kluivert in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Corriere della Sera’s Rome edition (print edition July 14th, page 9) who claim that Hammers boss David Moyes wants to bring the 23-year-old Roma ace to the London Stadium this summer.

West Ham were first linked with a move to sign Kluivert last week, as covered right here on Hammers News.

David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his attacking ranks at the London Stadium before the start of the new season.

Andriy Yarmolenko left West Ham in the summer and Michail Antonio is crying out for more competition and cover.

Preferably, Moyes would like to sign an attacker who can play in all three positions along the front-line – left wing, right-wing and centre-forward

So it’s no surprise to see the latest name linked with a move to the London Stadium…

West Ham battling Lyon for Justin Kluivert

Corriere della Sera’s Rome edition (print edition July 14th, page 9) reckon that the Hammers are fighting it out with Lyon to sign the 23-year-old Roma attacker.

Hopefully the lure of Premier League action is enough to put us in pole position for the signing of the Dutchman this summer.

We think that the 23-year-old could be a very useful addition indeed for West Ham.

The Holland international spent last season on loan with Nice and bagged six goals and six assists in 31 games (Transfermarkt).

Kluivert has bagged 47 goals and 47 assists in 221 career games (Transfermarkt).

The Dutchman possess plenty of pace, has fantastic movement and is a real threat in behind.

The Roma ace would suit West Ham’s counter-attacking setup perfectly and would provide real competition for the Hammers’ current attacking players.

All Out Football describe Kluivert as a forward with rapid speed and quick feet.

Gazzetta dello Sport (print edition July 7th, page 13) claimed that Roma will sell the 23-year-old for around €15 million (£12.6 million) this summer.

£12.6 million for a player with Kluivert’s talent seems like fantastic value.

In today’s market, that would be a real steal for the Hammers.

And if West Ham manage to sign Justin Kluivert for that kind of money, it will be great business for the club.
