West Ham United are allegedly in the race to sign talented midfielder Florian Grillitsch on a free transfer this summer.
That’s according to a report from Area Napoli who claim that despite the Hammers’ interest in the 26-year-old, Napoli are leading the race for his signature.
West Ham boss David Moyes has a lot of work to do in the transfer market this summer.
One area at the London Stadium that is in urgent need of attention is the central midfield department.
Mark Noble has retired an Alex Kral has absolutely no future at West Ham after a really disappointing loan spell in East London.
The problem for Moyes is that he has to make at least seven or eight signings this summer if we are to remain competitive next season. So he will have to be thrifty in his player recruitment. And it seems as though he has a potentially huge bargain on his radar…
West Ham eyeing Florian Grillitsch swoop
Area Napoli reckon that the Austria International is on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the summer transfer window.
He will soon be available on a free transfer when his contract expires with Hoffenheim.
It is suggested that Napoli are leading the race to sign Grillitsch though.
In spite of that, West Ham need to go all out for the midfielder – he is a truly brilliant player and is available for absolutely nothing!
The 26-year-old has made 18 Bundesliga appearances for Hoffenheim this season just gone. During those outings, Grillitsch averaged 2.1 tackles, 1.6 interceptions and two clearances per match (Who Scored).
The Austrian is a very good passer of the footballer. He averaged 58.1 passes per game with an impressive completion rate of 89.4% (Who Scored).
Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Grillitsch possesses all of the physical attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.
He is energetic, powerful, has plenty of stamina and is tenacious in the tackle. He can also play at centre-back if need be!
Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann once described Grillitsch as an ‘exceptional’ footballer, as quoted by Sky Sports Austria:
“In my opinion, Flo Grillitsch is one of the best players in the Bundesliga. He still has room for improvement, he knows that, I’ve told him that often enough. But he is an exceptional footballer and has an incredible gift for setting the rhythm of the game.”
Signing Florian Grillitsch on a free transfer seems like an absolute no-brainer for West Ham. Let’s hope we get this done with the minimum of fuss in the summer.
