West Ham United could be presented with a second chance to sign Napoli star Piotr Zielinski in the summer of 2023.
That’s according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, who claim that if the Poland international fails to sign a new deal before the summer, he will be transfer listed by Napoli.
The 28-year-old’s current deal with Napoli expires in the summer of 2024. So the Italian outfit obviously do not want to risk losing him for nothing in 18 month’s time.

He eventually opted against joining the Hammers though, in order to continue playing Champions League football with Napoli.
It seems as though the Hammers could be handed a second bite at the cherry though…
West Ham could have another shot at Piotr Zielinski
Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the 28-year-old midfielder could be put up for transfer if he refuses to sign a new deal with Napoli.
I think that the Pole would be a huge upgrade on Tomas Soucek. Having said that, I do feel as though David Moyes should be targeting a younger model.
Zielinki will be 29 in May after all.
In spite of that, and for the here and now, the 28-year-old is undoubtedly a huge talent. He has the kind of ability that would definitely take West Ham’s attacking play to another level.
Zielinski bagged eight goals and five assists in 42 games for Napoli last season and in the 2020/21 campaign, he racked up 10 goals and 13 assists in 47 games. This term, he has bagged six goals and seven assists in 21 games (Transfermarkt).
In 35 Serie A outings last season, the Poland international made 36.1 passes on average per game and recorded an impressive completion rate of 84.8%. He also made an average of 1.4 key passes per match (Who Scored).
Former Poland manager Paulo Sousa described the Napoli midfielder as ‘exceptional’ (The Guardian). Meanwhile, The Daily Star labelled him as ‘incredible’.
I certainly wouldn’t be against West Ham signing Piotr Zielinski in the summer.
I do strongly believe that there are better and more cost effective options out there though.
