West Ham and Arsenal target released on shock free transfer by Sevilla

A West Ham and Arsenal target has been released on a sudden, shock free transfer by Sevilla days before the January window and three clubs want him.

West Ham boss David Moyes has admitted this week he will only be active in January if certain players become available (talkSPORT).

Meanwhile Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be keen to keep his young squad on their toes in a bid to maintain their surprise title charge.

West Ham take on Arsenal on Boxing Day evening as the Premier League gets back underway after the World Cup.

But Moyes and Arteta could be locking horns in the transfer market too it seems.

Both West Ham and Arsenal have been linked with former Real Madrid star Isco.

Ahead of the summer window El Españyol claimed Moyes was desperate to bring the Spaniard to West Ham.

Arteta has also long been linked with his compatriot – as recently as this week – who ended up signing for Sevilla in the summer window instead.

But just four months into a two-year deal with Sevilla, the 30-year-old midfielder is now surprisingly available again.

Because West Ham and Arsenal target Isco has been released on a sudden, shock free transfer by Sevilla days before January window – and three clubs want him.

The departure of Julen Lopetegui to Wolves has reportedly accelerated Isco’s too. Jorge Sampaoli did not see him as key player and today, Sevilla – who West Ham knocked out of last season’s Europa League – have announced they have mutually agreed to terminate his two-year deal.

Their statement did little more than list his statistics (19 games and one goal), before wishing him luck in the future.

Football Espana claim Arsenal and at least two other clubs – with Juventus and Wolves named – have already shown an interest in signing Isco on a free transfer.

West Ham will surely be in the mix too after Moyes admitted he would act if the right players became available in the winter window.

There had been some speculation Sevilla might release Isco. But to have done it so early into his contract – and so close to the January window – will mean a potential bargain for one club.

The Spanish connection with Arteta could give the Gunners the ace card. But West Ham, who have scored just 12 league goals all season, are desperately in need of more guile.

You could make a case for Isco at either club but he would surely get more game time with the Hammers, who – like Arsenal – have secured European knockout football again in the new year.
