Spurs’ winger Ivan Perisic is set to undergo surgery on what will likely be a season-ending ACL injury.

After a strong performance with an assist in our late victory over Sheffield last weekend, Ivan Perisic will likely miss the remainder of the season.

The 34-year-old, whose Sheffield appearance marked his 50th for the club, picked up the knock in non-contact training this week.

Now, Ange has some thinking to do to make up for the loss.

As we’ve seen, Manor Solomon can play out on the left flank when Sonny isn’t, and the addition of Brennan Johnson will make manipulating the front three much easier.

Ange has other options, while less desirable, in wingers Ryan Sessesgnon and Bryan Gil. Those two, however, are still recovering from injury and are unlikely to get minutes any time soon.

Perisic contributed eight assists in the league last season, and his confidence and composure on the ball have always made him a reliable asset. Unfortunately for the player and the club, he’s nearing an age when it may be in the best interest of both parties for him to move elsewhere come the end of the season.

The Croatian international will (hopefully) be fully recovered by the end of the campaign, at which point his contract is set to expire.

In July, Sky Sports reporter Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Perisic was looking to return to his home country to play for Hajduk Split.

It seems more likely now than ever that a free move away could occur next summer.
