According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham is interested in hiring Mateu Alemany as its new director of football come September.
Almost a forgotten subject, Tottenham still needs a director of football. Former director of football Fabio Paratici had to step aside due to his 30-month ban being upheld by FIFA.

While still apparently involved on a consultancy basis, Paratici’s former role needs filling. Scott Munn, Tottenham’s chief football officer, is expected to be integral in deciding who the next director of football will be.
Alemany is Barcelona’s director of football, a role ending on Sept. 2. Aston Villa was interested in the 60-year-old earlier in the summer, but nothing further materialized on that front.
Alemany has had various roles during his career, mainly in Spain, where he’s originally from. He was Valencia’s manager before taking on his current role at Barcelona.
Before that, he served as Mallorca’s president, chief executive officer, and deputy managing director (at different times). He spent over 15 years at Mallorca and has worked at Barcelona since March 2021.
Expect to hear more about this breaking news in short succession.
All we have to go on, for now, is Romano’s recent tweet. That, however, is significant in its own right, as it means Tottenham is seriously considering Alemany for the role.
If appointed, Alemany would start in September.
