Tottenham ‘could’ sign Barcelona’s Franck Kessie if Harry Kane leaves
It seems odd at first because Kessie isn’t really a striker. Actually, he may well be the furthest thing from that.
It would also worry Spurs fans if the club plan on using any potential money from Kane’s sale in the same manner they used the Gareth Bale money in 2013. We all know how that ended.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich are ready to return to the table for Kane after having an €80million plus add-ons bid rejected by Spurs recently. That shows that if Tottenham sell the 29-year-old, they will receive more than the €80million figure.
Apparently, Barcelona are ready to sell the Ivory Coast international for €15million. That’s a smart way for quick profit, having signed him on a free transfer from AC Milan last summer. He has three years still left on his contract at the club (Transfermarkt).
What are Spurs up to?
If Kane is sold, Spurs fans’ main concern will be his replacement. In essence, it seems impossible to replace our club’s greatest-ever player. But there has to be an effort.
Fans will tolerate no compromises when searching for Kane’s potential replacement/successor given the importance of the Englishman to this team. Only after we have secured a satisfying signing up front should we think about using the Kane money for anything else.
Kessie isn’t a bad shout to strengthen the team. He is a smart box-to-box midfielder who is in his peak years and doesn’t carry an audacious price tag.

But this is a signing we should have been able to make regardless of Kane’s future. The Ivorian can certainly add a lot of steel and depth to our midfield line.
