A stat has emerged that proves David Moyes is setting up his West Ham United side completely wrong from the start.

The Hammers have been absolutely awful during the first-half of games so far this season.

We seem to be painfully slow out the blocks, and it is costing us dearly, time and time again.

Something has to change, and fast.

David Moyes is one of the most negative managers around. He sets his teams up to not get beat, rather than win games of football.

And now there is stone cold evidence that Moyes has been getting it so very wrong…

Firstly, the Hammers have scored just two first-half goals in the Premier League so far this season, with seven coming in the second-half.

But the problems run much deeper than that.

Moyes always starts with two defensive midfielders in the form of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.

When Aaron Cresswell plays at left-back, Moyes then puts a defensive minded player in front of him, whether that be Pablo Fornals or Emerson.

He always starts with one striker. Recently Gianluca Scamacca has made that role his own, but often he is just left isolated.

It has been painful watching us at times this season, especially inside the first 45 minutes of games.

And now there is some real evidence to prove that Moyes is getting things completely wrong.

The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas compiled the following stats, highlighting the stark difference between West Ham’s first and second half performances:

Those numbers really do hammer home how slowly West Ham get out of the blocks under David Moyes.

And it’s quite simply not good enough.

Moyes needs to change his approach, if West Ham are to enjoy a successful 2022/23 campaign. And taking the game to the opposition from kick-off would be a great place to start.
