Arsenal travel to West Ham United tomorrow afternoon, and David Moyes has been speaking to the press ahead of the match.

David Moyes has already guided West Ham to two wins over Arsenal this season – once in the Premier League and once in the cup.

The Hammers have been absolutely awful since our last Premier League win – the 2-0 victory at the Emirates on December 28th, and we desperately need a win tomorrow in order to breath life back into our push for the top six.

However, Moyes has been up to his old tricks when speaking to the media ahead of the game at the London Stadium tomorrow.

It seems to me that the Scot just can’t help himself sometimes…

The Scot sat down to speak with reporters during his pre-match press conference yesterday afternoon.

And Moyes explained how hard it will be for his players against Arsenal tomorrow, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

“I think if you’d given me given me one of the wins against an Arsenal side so good, I think I’d have been happy. Two’s fabulous. If we make three, it’ll be fantastic and we’ll aim to do that. We’ve got them at home, but we’re also really aware how good a side they are. They are an incredibly good side, have been challenging to win the Premier League for the last two years. And we’re going have to play really well. The manager has done a brilliant job with the team. I think they’ve got some real top-quality players and you only need to look at the result last week against Liverpool, and how well they’ve been playing this season. So they are a top team, they really are. We did a great job getting the result at the Emirates in December, and overall we’ve had a couple of good results against them. But I know that we have to work really hard and play well to get something out of the game.”

Here’s the thing, we all know how good Arsenal are, and we’re fully aware how the West Ham players will need to be 100% at it tomorrow in order to get a result.

However, why not approach the game with a better, more positive mindset? Moyes plays down his side’s chances against the big boys time and time again.

So it’s little wonder why he has such a bad record against them isn’t it? As mentioned earlier, the Gunners are a great team. However, they have proven that they’re far from infallible this season.

We’ve already beaten them away in the Premier League and at the London Stadium in the Carabao Cup. They’ve also lost away to Fulham, Aston Villa and Newcastle in the league.

The problem I have with this is that if you keep telling your players how hard a game will be, they will start to believe it. David Moyes has just given his players a ready made excuse ahead of the clash with Arsenal tomorrow, and that isn’t acceptable as far as I’m concerned.
