Erik ten Hag has urged Man United to do their best and bring both Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen to Man United.
As things stand, Manchester United’s summer hasn’t really got going. That’s obviously majorly surprising due to the amount of gaping holes within this squad.
Once again, we United fans have bought into the belief that things will be different this season. Once again, we’ve been proven wrong.
The exits at Old Trafford have been plentiful. The transfer rumours linking us with replacement signings have been just as common, without any real substance.
Now, in a report by The Mirror, it’s claimed that United’s new manager is ‘stunned by the transfer rejection, with his vision said to be ‘in tatters’.
Erik Ten Hag has told Man United to sign a midfield duo, who will be the ‘focal point’ of his new-look United side. If that doesn’t happen, the Dutchman believes we could be in for a long season. Particularly after Jurrien Timber has now opted against a Reds switch.
The two players in question are Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen. Obviously, United have been most heavily linked with these two over any other player in the current transfer market.
There’s no doubt that both would help transform the overall look of our squad, though it’s described as a ‘significant setback’ if neither of these moves goes on to happen…
I honestly believe there’s a good chance United are left disappointed again. De Jong would prefer to stay in Barcelona, while I don’t doubt the Nou Camp club are doing their best to make that happen due to his performances.
As for Eriksen. His former club Tottenham Hotspur are also credited with interest. They have Champions League football on the table while he also has a place in his heart for the North London side. Beating out Antonio Conte’s men in that race may well be tough.
For the fans, it’s just about showing us that things have changed behind the scenes and the powers that be are doing their best to turn things around. Sadly, not much has changed. At least not so far anyway…
