Shock Roberto Martinez West Ham claim made by football journalist as the pressure really cranks up on David Moyes.

Football journalist Dean Jones told Give Me Sport that Martinez is now a name who could be considered by the Hammers owners, should they decide to part ways with Moyes.

The Scot is under severe pressure in his role at the London Stadium, and he is allegedly already on a warning from the owners.

And it seems as though Matinez could be a potential replacement for Moyes.

The Spaniard, who won the FA Cup with Wigan in 2013, left the Premier League in 2016 after being sacked by Everton, and was appointed as Belgium manager just three months later.

He held that position for six years, but after Belgium’s group stage exit from the World Cup, Martinez announced that he was stepping down. Jump before you’re pushed and all that…

Shock Roberto Martinez West Ham claim

Football journalist Dean Jones has been speaking to Give Me Sport about David Moyes’s current situation at the London Stadium.

And Jones suggested that Roberto Martinez may now be on the Hammers owners’ radar after he left his role with Belgium:

Of course, at the back of their minds, the club will have to be considering now what would happen next [if Moyes is sacked]. Roberto Martinez as an option will be mentioned but how does he compare to other names that are going to be available in the market?

I have to say, I would be absolutely fuming if David Sullivan sacked Moyes and appointed Martinez.

I’m no fan of Moyes, and truly believe that he needs to be sacked, if West Ham are to make genuine progress.

Getting rid of the Scot and replacing him with the Spaniard would be nothing more than a sideways step in my opinion though, if not a backwards one.

If Moyes is to be moved on, it would be nice for the club to replace him with a forward-thinking, innovative young coach.

It seems though that might not be the case though, and that’s tremendously disappointing.

The shock Roberto Martinez West Ham claim will hopefully carry no weight. There would be a mutiny at the London Stadium if the Spaniard was appointed.
