Gretar Steinsson appointed new performance director at Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur have recruited Icelandic footballer Gretar Steinsson as performance director, according to the Evening Standard. The North London club have seen a shake-up in the recruitment team since the arrival of Fabio Paratici.

With the arrival of the Italian last year, key members of the backroom staff left. Now, Steinsson joins Paratici’s new recruitment team alongside Andy Scoulding as assistant performance director.

The 40-year-old joins after leaving his role as a technical advisor for the Icelandic Football Association. Steinson is an experienced head and has been in the backroom staff of clubs like Everton and Fleetwood Town.

Fabio Paratici has shaken the backroom staff a bit since his arrival at Tottenham.

During the Iceland international’s playing career, he played in the Premier League with Bolton Wanderers. The former right-back has experience playing for various sides across Europe.

Paratici backing Conte

Tottenham fans have seen a revolution since the arrival of Antonio Conte in November after Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked. The club have gone into two transfer windows since and have backed the Italian manager.

During the January transfer window, key players such as Dele Alli departed the club on a permanent deal. Fans also saw the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur for what now fans believe are reasonable sums.

And these two additions have spurred the team. The North London side secured a place in the Champions League and are now looking to flex their muscles once again with the signings being made.

Richarlison completed a move to the Lilywhites in spite of interest from other teams. The summer after the conclusion of last season saw back-to-back signings being made. Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic were the two signings that got the summer underway.

Yves Bissouma has also made a move to the N17. With other names being linked to the team, the club seems to be seriously backing the manager. Fans will hope our recruitment doesn’t let us down and the players we’ve bought make a difference in our title hopes for the upcoming campaign.
