Leeds United striker Sonny Perkins scored a brilliant 33-minute hat-trick for England under-19’s this afternoon.
West Ham allowed Perkins to leave the London Stadium in the summer after he refused to sign a new contract.
Leeds snapped up the talented 18-year-old, much to the annoyance of the Hammers fans.
Whilst the teenager still has a long way to go and a lot to prove, the early indications are that West Ham should have done more to keep him in East London.
And his performance for the England under-19’s today lent further credence to that notion…
Sonny Perkins on fire for England under-19’s
The talented teenage hitman struck a sensational 33-minute hat-trick for the Three Lions youth team during a 6-0 win against Georgia today.
Perkins is clearly a hugely exciting young talent.
Whether he goes on to be a success at Premier League level still remains to be seen of course.
As things stands though, he seems to be doing absolutely everything right.
West Ham may well end up regretting allowing the 18-year-old to leave the London Stadium, rather than trying harder to tie him down to a new deal.
Sonny Perkins certainly seems to have all of the attributes needed to succeed at the very highest level, and his performance for England under-19’s today proved that.
