Dharmesh Sheth has lifted the lid on Tim Steidten’s current whereabouts and it makes West Ham’s priority striker signing clear before deadline day.

West Ham are not so much casting the net far and wide but rather hedging their bets in their bid to sign a new striker before the summer transfer window closes on Friday.

That’s according to Sky Sports’ chief transfer reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

West Ham have been linked with a plethora of forwards including PSG outcast Hugo Ekitike, Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri, Brazilian trio Yuri Alberto, Pedro and Marcos Leonardo and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez.

‘Timmy Steidten went to Dam…’

Indeed Hammers technical director Tim Steidten is reported to have been in France for talks with Ekitike and Rabat for discussions with Morocco forward En-Nesyri of late.

That was after two separate trips to Holland either side of a visit to Germany in the last couple of weeks to seal deals for Edson Alvarez, Dinos Mavropanos and Mohammed Kudus.

Steidten was off on his travels again on Sunday when it was reported he had jetted to Brazil with a view to doing a deal for one of the aforementioned forwards – Alberto, Pedro or Leonardo.

Since then it seems Alberto and Ekitike have emerged as the two prime targets.

Dharmesh Sheth lifts lid on Tim Steidten’s current whereabouts and it makes West Ham’s priority striker signing clear before deadline day

Now Sheth has lifted the lid on Steidten’s current whereabouts and it makes West Ham’s priority striker signing clear before deadline day.

The reporter has revealed on Sky Sports’ The Transfer Show this evening that Steidten is still in Brazil working on a deal for Alberto.

Given that it takes 11 hours to fly from Brazil back to the UK and that we are heading into the final 48 hours of the window – it’s clear that Alberto is West Ham’s priority striker target.

Sheth claimed the Hammers won’t be signing both Alberto and Ekitike. So he believes West Ham are hedging their bets by keeping dialogue open for the Frenchman.

Hammers transfer chief STILL in Brazil as prime target becomes perfectly clear

“I’m told it could be, and probably likely will be, one of Hugo Ekitike or the player that they’re chasing from Corinthians – Yuri Alberto,” Sheth said on The Transfer Show, 5.10pm.

“The technical director Tim Steidten, he is still out in Brazil having face-to-face talks with Corinthians over Alberto. Personal terms not an issue, Alberto wants to come to the London Stadium.

“But because it is such a complicated deal to do, given the number of intermediaries and representatives surrounding Alberto, that’s probably why West Ham aren’t just focusing on that one player and they’re thinking Ekitike is a potential alternative to Yuri Alberto.

“Ekitike is not an easy deal to do either, simply because we’ve only got two days left.”

Should a deal for Alberto fail to transpire we should expect the Hammers to switch full focus to Ekitike it seems.

Earlier on Wednesday, French football expert Jonathan Johnson delivered the latest from across The Channel on West Ham’s move for Ekitike.
