Ruslan Malinovskyi could still be on the move next year as dream Tottenham Hotspur move falls apart
Tottenham Hotspur target Ruslan Malinovskyi was denied his dream move to North London by Atalanta BC president Antonio Percassi. However, the Ukrainian’s situation still remains open for next year, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
Spurs wanted to get Malinovskyi on a loan deal with a buy option. However, the hierarchy at the Serie A outfit denied Malinovskyi an exit. French side Olympique Marseille were also interested in the 29-year-old.
Malinovskyi joined Atalanta in the summer of 2019. Since then, the Ukrainian has played a key role in the Serie A club’s success. The 29-year-old has mostly featured in the number 10 position for La Dea.
Tottenham have made several signings this summer. The side have strengthened most areas of the pitch. Antonio Conte has evidently now been handed a stronger squad than last season.
Some of Spurs’ marquee signings have been Ivan Perisic, Richarlison and Yves Bissouma. The team’s attacking options have been bolstered a lot with the arrival of the Brazilian.
However, a playmaker has been seemingly missing from the side. The last world-class attacking midfielder at Tottenham was Christian Eriksen. Spurs have made some brilliant additions to the squad up front. However, none of them are the creative type.
Malinovskyi is a player who is capable of breaking the opposition lines. The 29-year-old has the ability to split open defences with his passes. The Ukrainian is also dangerous from set-pieces.

For now, Malinovskyi’s situation is uncertain at Atalanta. It remains to be seen whether Spurs will go after him once again next year in the winter or the summer transfer window. We have had success bringing in the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur in January.
