Given their strong form in the Arsenal first team, it’s no surprise that Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Gabriel Martinelli have generated plenty of speculation around their contracts with the club lately.

All three have deals expiring in 2024, though it was common knowledge that Martinelli had an option to extend, previously believed to be a one-year option.

But in an apparent boost for Arsenal fans, it seems all three could be under contract for even longer.

The Times and the Evening Standard both report that whilst Saka and Saliba do have contracts lasting until 2024, they both have options to extend to 2025.

Meanwhile, Martinelli’s option to extend is actually a two-year option, potentially taking him to 2026.

Though it still seems like an excellent time to renegotiate, with Arsenal winning nine of their first 10 games of the season, this update does take some of the perceived pressure off.

Almost three years is a long time in football, let alone four. Arsenal will want to get all three committed on new contracts of five years or longer, but there’s at least no immediate need to extend or sell.

Speaking about the trio’s contract situation on Thursday, Mikel Arteta said: “Well, obviously we have to plan for the future and we are all working on it.

“Obviously Edu is on top of it and all the board. We will try to do things in the right way, being fair and trying to plan the best possible way and reward the players that, in our opinion, have a big future for the club.

“When we have something to announce, we will do that.”
