West Ham United have reportedly made a new bid for an attacking midfielder in the January transfer window.

The January transfer window is a vitally important one for West Ham boss David Moyes, and he’s made a great start by signing Kalvin Phillips on a season long loan.

The next item on the agenda for the Hammers manager will be to sign another attack-minded player – someone versatile who can play anywhere along the front-line.

Monza youngster Valentin Carboni is someone who’s believed to be on the West Ham radar, with the East London outfit having made an offer believed to be worth around £9 million for the 18-year-old.

That bid was subsequently rejected, and now it seems like the Hammers have come back in with a fresh offer for Carboni.

Unfortunately for us though, our latest bid has been knocked back as well…

West Ham make new January bid for attacker

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Hammers have lodged a €14 million (£12 million) bid for the Argentine teenager – one that has been rejected by Monza.

That’s a shame for West Ham, because Carboni is a huge talent. However, it must be said that he’s totally unproven in the Premier League.

He is an attacking midfielder by trade, but he can also operate as a winger if needed be.

The South American teen has already bagged two goals and three assists in 15 senior games for Monza (Transfermarkt).

Carboni has incredible technique for someone so young and has the potential to go on and become a real star of the game.

He is obviously a really exciting talent, but there is no guarantee that he’ll go on to become a star in the Premier League.

So perhaps West Ham have had a let off after our £12 million January bid was rejected for him. Only time will tell.
