Anthony Gordon in Everton dilemma amid Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea interest
Anthony Gordon wants to play under manager Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur but he does not want to force a move away from his boyhood club Everton, according to Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold.
The 21-year-old has been on the radar of Spurs, Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Chelsea this summer. The Blues are even said to have had a bid of £45million rejected by the Toffees recently.
Manager Thomas Tuchel could use some fresh additions to his attack given his team’s poor start to the Premier League season. Conte, on the other hand, isn’t in such desperate need of attackers – especially wingers.
Spurs already signed Richarlison this summer and Dejan Kulusevski’s arrival in January has played a massive role in Steven Bergwijn’s absence not being felt this month. Lucas Moura is also available to play in attack and as of now, so is Bryan Gil.
Do Spurs need Gordon?
Ivan Perisic would also be a contender to start down either flank and so can Ryan Sessegnon if it is required. Long story short, Spurs are blessed with several quality options in attack.
Gordon, 21, had a breakthrough season under Frank Lampard last season and has what it takes to play for a club playing in the UEFA Champions League. However, it remains to be seen if he gets his move in the coming days.
If he wishes to respect his club’s wishes, then it would be odd for them to sell another one of their prized attackers during the current transfer window. Earlier this summer, Richarlison left Goodison Park to join the Lilywhites.
