Torino are absolutely delighted with the form of Nikola Vlasic, having loaned him from West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

The Italian side allegedly have the option to make Vlasic’s loan move a permanent one in 11 month’s time.

That’s according to a report from Calciomercato who claim that Torino are ‘rubbing their hands together’ at the prospect of signing the 24-year-old for just €15 million (£13.1 million) next summer.

Vlasic endured a disastrous spell with West Ham after moving to the London Stadium for around £25.7 million on transfer deadline day last summer (The Athletic).

At the time, David Moyes had just missed out on signing Jesse Lingard on a permanent deal from Manchester United.

It seemed as though the Croatian international was a panic signing and there were suggestions that Moyes hadn’t done his usual due diligence on him.

Vlasic really struggled with the Hammers, although it must be stated that he hasn’t once been played in his favoured position by Moyes.

He bagged just one goal and two assists in 31 games for West Ham (Transfermarkt). It appears as though Moyes may have given up on him too soon though. Or that’s what the Italian press seem to believe at least…

Torino overjoyed with Nikola Vlasic after loan from West Ham

According to Calciomercato, the Serie A side signing the Croatia international for £13.1 million next summer is now almost a formality after his start to life in Turin.

Vlasic has begun life in Italy in fine style with three goals in five games (Transfermarkt).

The thing is, we think that’s good news for both Torino AND West Ham.

At the end of the day, Vlasic struggled with the pace and intensity of Premier League football, regardless of whether he played in his correct position or not.

Nikola Vlasic flourishing with Torino can only be a good thing for West Ham.

Selling him for £13.1 million may seem like bad business but it’s like writing off a car. Moyes just needs to get what he can for an asset that simply hasn’t worked for him. We know that Vlasic isn’t good enough for the Premier League.

If he does leave to join Torino next summer on a permanent deal, we wish him all the best. West Ham was just the wrong move for Vlasic in my opinion.
