West Ham United have allegedly just joined the race to sign talented Sao Paulo defender Luizao this summer.
That’s according to a report from Brazilian outlet IG who claim that the 20-year-old is firmly on the Hammers’ radar this summer.

West Ham could face competition from Fulham for the young Sao Paulo defender’s signature as well, according to IG.
Luizao’s current deal with Sao Paulo expires in January, so the Hammers would have to make an offer for him now or pick him up on a free transfer in the winter (IG).
David Moyes has already bolstered his centre-back ranks at the London Stadium his summer with the additions of Nayef Aguerd and Thilo Kehrer.
Signing a talented young defender with one eye on the future in addition to those two mentioned above wouldn’t be a bad thing at all though…
West Ham eyeing Luizao swoop
Brazilian outlet IG claim that Moyes wants to bring the Brazilian centre-back to the London Stadium this summer.
We think he’d be a smart addition for the Hammers, with Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson now 34 and 32 respectively.
The 20-year-old has only made 12 senior appearances for Sao Paulo (Transfermarkt).
So he’s obviously still very rough around the edges. That’s not to say that he doesn’t have outstanding ability and potential though.
Luizao is an aggressive young defender whose playing style is quintessentially South American, what with his tenacity and aggression.
He’s a very good tackler and is commanding in the air. The thing is though, he’s totally unproven, so if Moyes did bring him to the London Stadium, he would undoubtedly have to wait a while before being exposed to first-team action.
We think Luizao would be an exciting addition for West Ham nonetheless.
However, it remains to be seen whether the Hammers can beat Fulham to the Sao Paulo starlet’s signature this summer.
