Fabrizio Romano reveals financials involved in Tottenham Hotspur signing Dejan Kulusevski
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Tottenham Hotspur have signed Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus on an initial loan deal in the January transfer window. He would give them a much-needed boost in the forward department considering the lack of options available.
Kulusevski joined Spurs on a one and a half year loan deal where they would pay €10million for his services. Interestingly enough, the agreement includes both a buy option and a mandatory clause, which depends on how his situation develops at N17 in the future.
Tottenham would be obligated to buy the 21-year-old if certain criteria are met moving forward. Appearances and Champions League are stated to be the terms regarding the activation of the said clause
The English club also has the option to buy the Swede for €35million if they want to get him permanently before the activation of the release clause. In any case, they would only have to pay the transfer fees for the permanent move through five instalments.
Good deal?
The loan amount in and of itself could seem a bit pricey despite the fees being paid for one and a half years. However, if the Tottenham star’s contribution can lead to our success this season, then it would be a good deal nonetheless.
The Swedish international had a mixed time during his time in Turin, but that could also be down to Juve’s decline in recent years. He won the Best Young Player in Serie A award in the 2019-20 season during his time at Parma. He certainly has the potential to become a major player under Antonio Conte.
