Amad Diallo is set to return to Man United after an unproductive loan move at Rangers…
When Manchester United made a big-money move to bring in Amad from Atalanta last summer, the Old Trafford faithful were rightly excited.
Those thrills were further heightened when the Ivory Coast international scored a huge goal against AC Milan on his Europa League debut. But sadly, that’s really all we’ve seen of Amad in the famous red jersey.
A loan move to Rangers was sanctioned in January following an injury to Amad which scuppered those loans plans last summer. Again, the winger would score on debut. Again, that’s as good as it would get.
The man who cost a little over £37million (Sky Sports), is now set to return to the Reds at the ‘earliest opportunity’, following a loan move that has resulted in failure.
It’s Football Insider with the claim, who state that the loan move to Rangers has ‘turned sour’. Whether that opportunity arises before the end of the season, or whether Amad has to wait until the summer, the winger will come back to Old Trafford – before being loaned out again next term.
When you cost so much money, there’s a lot of expectancy upon your shoulders. Amad is obviously a talented individual, but he still looks a little lightweight to me. When I watched him play for Rangers he was bullied off the ball more often than not – something which he’d also have to put up with on a weekly basis in the Premier League.
The good news is at age 19, Amad still has plenty of time to develop and grow as a footballer. It may take another season for the Ivory Coast international to fully adjust and adapt to life in England, with a Championship move in 2022/23 probably the best option.
