Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has said that Harry Maguire could play again for the club this season.

The England international has been struggling with a knee niggle which has kept him out of the matchday squad for the last two games.

However, Rangnick has hinted that he may be available again. Maguire could return to team training during Thursday’s session.

He told BBC Sport via Manutd.com: “Harry Maguire might be available again. We have to wait and see if he can train the day after tomorrow.”

Maguire has experienced a difficult season for United. He has been guilty of several positional errors over the course of the campaign.

Despite the criticism from some fans, Rangnick has always been supportive of the club captain. He has regularly picked him in the XI.

The Brighton game on Saturday may come too soon for the £36 million-rated star, but he could start the final match at Crystal Palace on May 22.

United recently ended a three-match winless run with a 3-0 triumph over Brentford. It was their largest margin of victory under Rangnick.

They still have two more matches left for the league campaign, and the onus will be on winning both games to avoid unwanted history.

United can at most finish with 64 points this term. This would equal their worst-ever Premier League points tally from the 2013/14 season.

Anything less than a victory over the next two games would break an unwanted feat. Rangnick will be hoping to avoid the situation.
