After rescuing a point this past weekend at Chelsea, Spurs will look to maintain their unbeaten season start versus Wolverhampton, so who will Tottenham start?
Antonio Conte is a coach who likes consistency and competition, believing that the two feed each other. With the idea of consistency and competition in mind, we project the XI Spurs the Italian will start against Wolves on Saturday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs Forward Projections
The introduction of Richarlison made a difference against Chelsea. However, it seems unlikely that Conte would start a league match with four forwards. The question then becomes, does Richarlison crack the starting line-up?
Left-forward – Heung-min Son
Although none of the front three are exactly buzzing at the moment, if any one of them were to be replaced by Richarlison, it would be Heung-min Son. However, replacing Son with Richarlison means someone else needs to take all the free kicks and corners, potentially necessitating changes in other side parts. Instead of making changes, Conte sticks with the defending Golden Boot winner and hopes the South Korean gets on track.
Center-forward – Harry Kane
It looked like it would be a quiet derby for Kane last Sunday, but a late flick from his head put Spurs fans into pandemonium and helped Tottenham steal a point. Although Kane did not have a great game, he was unlucky not to pick up an assist as he had a few fantastic passes when he could find some space. Expect Kane to find more space on Saturday afternoon and be at his best.
Right-forward – Dejan Kulusevski
The attacker who saw the least of the ball against Chelsea, Dejan Kulusevski, was still very dangerous and caused some major problems for Chelsea. Like with Son and Kane, playing a team a notch below the Blues should give Dekki that extra step to pop. The Swede should be able to keep Rayan Ait-Nouri pinned deep, making a long day for the French left-back.
