Predicted MUFC XI vs Man City (Premier League away, 2022/23)

Our predicted MUFC XI vs Man City is now in, with the Red Devils entering into their first derby with their new boss…

Erik ten Hag has been an absolute breath of fresh air since making the move to Manchester. The Dutchman now faces his sternest test thus far against the noisy neighbours.

Whether we like it or not, Manchester City are the level we need to reach in order to win major pieces of silverware again. Albeit early on in the process, this is an excellent chance to see exactly how we measure up against Pep Guardiola and his team.

As long as United show fight, try to take the game to their opponents and wear the shirt with pride, we’ll all leave the match feeling satisfied.

Ten Hag will have to do it without injuries to a couple of key faces, though there is still plenty of quality within the squad to threaten City here. Anyway, let’s get right into the all-important team news.

lineup 1 2

The back five pretty much picks itself, though we’ll give you the full rundown. David de Gea is obviously going to start in between the sticks, despite his deficiencies with the ball at feet.

Tyrell Malacia has been outstanding since starting his first match, so he has to continue. Over on the right, Diogo Dalot is now the first-choice option. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane are forming a nice back-two partnership. Both came back from international duty unharmed.

Scott McTominay just doesn’t warrant being dropped in favour of Casemiro right now so the Scotland international has to start. Christian Eriksen will play this one from the off, as will Bruno Fernandes, who’ll have to work super hard on both sides of the ball.

Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line in the absence of Rashford, with Anthony and Jadon Sancho on his right and left respectively.

Come on you Reds!
