Our first predicted MUFC XI of the season is in, for our pre-season game vs Liverpool.
And just like that, we’re back at our predicted line-ups! Fair warning here, this one is nothing more than an educated guess due to having a new manager in place. Alas, we know you guys like this sort of content so we’ve done our best!
First games do not come much more challenging than Liverpool. We have to be honest with ourselves, they’re the benchmark along with Manchester City.
Erik ten Hag will know there’s a massive task at hand, though this is a great early test for this United squad.
I’m intrigued to see how it’ll all play out, while getting an early look at players who seem to be among Ten Hag’s favourites. Anyway, without further ado, let’s get right into it…
Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Liverpool (2022 pre-season) in full here:
David de Gea is likely to start in between the sticks here, as he tries to add distribution to his long list of top-class skills.
The back four was difficult. Harry Maguire is doubtful due to a small injury, while we haven’t seen Raphael Varane in training yet. That leaves Victor Lindelof and Axel Tuanzebe as the only viable options at centre half. I’ve gone for Diogo Dalot at right-back over Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with Tyrell Malacia getting the nod left-back.
James Garner is probably the man I’m most looking forward to watching. The Englishman has a real chance to give Ten Hag no other choice but to hand him regular starters, assuming he has a strong tour. He’ll play here, as will Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek. The Dutch midfielder is no doubt buzzing to revive his Reds career.
Anthony Martial is another who has turned into a forgotten man, though this is a cracking opportunity for the Frenchman. Marcus Rashford had a poor 2021/22 term and he’s another who’ll be hoping for a fresh start under Ten Hag. He will start here, with Jadon Sancho making up the XI.
There’s a good chance these guys only play a half of football here, with Ten Hag looking to get a close look at the whole squad in the early stages of pre-season.
