Our predicted MUFC XI for our penultimate pre-season game vs Atletico Madrid is now in…
Manchester United Football Club take on Atletico Madrid this Saturday, with Erik ten Hag trying to get one final look at his players ahead of the serious stuff starting the week after.
Word on the grapevine suggests that United will field a stronger line-up against Atleti, before a weaker team plays Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday.
This game will be the true test of how far United have come under Ten Hag thus far, against a side who work tirelessly for 90 minutes. Obviously, it’s more about match fitness rather than the actual result. Winning is always good for confidence, though.
Anyway, let’s get right into the all-important team news for this encoutner.
Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Atletico Madrid in full here:
David de Gea will start in between the sticks, with the Spaniard making a final push to assert himself as the firm number one going into the campaign.
Diogo Dalot seems to have taken complete charge of the right-back role under Ten Hag. Over on the left, Tyrell Malacia will be continuing his assault on Luke Shaw’s position. I believe going into the campaign, Harry Maguire (C) and Lisandro Martinez will be the starting pairing. It makes complete sense to see how they perform together in this one.
Fred has been impressive in pre-season so he’ll continue. Hopefully, alongside James Garner, who hasn’t really been given an opportunity to play regularly at this stage.
The front four remains unchanged as Cristiano Ronaldo’s future continues to remain up in the air. Anthony Martial has been impressive up top, with Bruno Fernandes sitting in just behind. To the right and left respectively, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford have also been performing nicely.
