Stephen Warnock has been blown away by West Ham and says they had the best transfer window in the Premier League.

West Ham fans are not the only ones impressed by the club’s rebuild following Declan Rice’s departure to Arsenal.

There were major concerns that West Ham were going to struggle to make any coherent signings at all when they came within three weeks of the new season without a single arrival.

That was attributed to initial frosty relations between David Moyes and new technical director Tim Steidten at West Ham.

Fans, pundits and even Domino’s Pizza mocked the Hammers for their inability to sign players in the immediate aftermath of Rice’s sale to the Gunners.

But after a meeting of minds – by Moyes’ own admission – the pair have worked to ensure the Rice money was well spent.

Fast forward to present day and West Ham are unbeaten, sitting pretty in the top four of the fledgling Premier League table and have bagged four superb signings.

They may have taken their time, but West Ham have impressed fans and observers with the acquisitions of Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse as Rice’s replacements.

The Hammers also signed ex Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos and the hugely exciting – and coveted – Mohammed Kudus with the bulk of the funds.

Moyes has declared there is life after Dec and says he believes West Ham are now stronger with their new signings.

West Ham’s ‘exceptional’ rebuild has also impressed European football experts and leading Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, who has raved about what the Hammers have done.

Now West Ham can add another admirer to their growing list.

Stephen Warnock has been blown away by West Ham and says they had the best transfer window in the Premier League.

The former Premier League player turned Sky Sports pundit was speaking on Monday’s Football Show (12.30pm) when he lavished praise on the rebuild and made that bold claim.

And he says the midfield and team is ‘more dynamic’ now than when they had Rice.

“Yea it (the West Ham midfield and team) does (look more dynamic), I like it, I love the balance of it,” Warnock said.

“I think they’ve got depth in there now. They’ve been so heavily reliant on Rice and (Tomas) Soucek (but) now they can mix it up. You throw Kudus into that as well, you look at him he can play either wing, as a 10, he can play in the centre – he’s so versatile.

“And I think what it does now, it gives West Ham options to change their style of play. If you look at Alvarez, he’s going to be the one who’s going to be aggressive and he’s going to be your ball-winner isn’t he. Ward-Prowse we know can do either, he can mix it up both ways. He’s dominant on the ball but he can also dig in and be organised in a shape and a system. That is what they needed.

“I think the business that they’ve done is arguably the best in the league. The way they’ve re-invested that money and then spent a little bit more – I think it’s phenomenal business from West Ham.”
