It’s news everyone knew was coming, as Tottenham permanently signed Pedro Porro for €40 million today.
There were murmurs to the contrary, but Porro’s loan deal was accompanied by a mandatory stipulation to buy. He is officially Tottenham’s fourth signing of the transfer period, joining Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, and Guglielmo Vicario.

Porro’s contract runs through the end of the 2028 season.
The Spanish right-back is seen as an essential component of Spurs’ long-term project. Just 23, Porro arrived at the end of January from Sporting Lisbon, making 15 Premier League appearances, scoring three goals, and adding as many helpers.
Porro started in 12 of Spurs’ remaining 13 matches last season. The only exception was a substitute appearance against Brentford in the season’s penultimate match.
Some question where Porro is best suited in Ange’s 4-3-3.
But the right-back will most likely, at least from the onset, take his position as Tottenham’s starting right-inverted full-back, though Emerson Royal might have something to say about that.
If Royal impresses and wins the starting spot, an unlikely outcome, Porro can also play a more advanced role on the wide right as part of the front three. However, that position better fits Dejan Kulusevski’s skill set.
Regardless, Porro has a crucial part to play in Spurs’ revolution. He struggled out of the gate after moving from Portugal, which most foreign signings can relate to, but was more comfortable as time transpired.
He was the man of the match in Tottenham’s final Premier League encounter against Leeds, scoring a beautiful goal and adding an assist.
Porro added an assist at home against Crystal Palace in the side’s fourth-last match. Three of his six goals and assists came in his final three starts of the campaign, showing signs of the Spanish international hitting his stride in the top flight.
While this signing was set in stone since his January arrival, it’s still a moment worth celebrating, as Porro has the skill set to be an influential player in north London for years to come.
