Tottenham Hotspur open to loaning Sergio Reguilon to Nottingham Forest but on one condition

Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon is linked with a loan move to Nottingham Forest, according to David Ornstein of the Athletic (Subscription Required).

However, the Lilywhites are demanding the Tricky Trees cover Reguilon’s full salary while he is playing for them. Talks have apparently taken place between the two clubs but it remains to be seen if a move is finalised before the transfer window deadline on September 1.

Omar Richards’ arrival from Bayern Munich led Forest fans to believe that they would not have to worry about the left-back slot for at least this season. However, a hairline leg fracture has ruled him out of action for the time being.

Reguilon seems unwanted at Spurs under manager Antonio Conte. He signed from Real Madrid just two years back and was a regular starter under Jose Mourinho.

What next for Reguilon?

However, the Italian manager has taken a liking to Ryan Sessegnon. Ivan Perisic’s arrival on a free transfer from Inter Milan has also provided a lot of cover in that region for the time being.

In fact, the Croatian winger is expected to be a starter for the N17 outfit. Sessegnon was selected to start against Southampton due to doubts over Perisic’s match fitness.

A solid performance against the Saints saw him retain his spot against Chelsea in the 2-2 draw. However, Conte chose to start Perisic in Spurs’ recent 1-0 win against Wolves, where the former Bayern Munich got an assist.

Forest could offer the chance of regular playing time in the Premier League to Reguilon, ensuring that he doesn’t have to relocate to a new country.

This way, he can probably impress the decision makers at Spurs in a more intimate manner or perhaps catch the eye of a team willing to buy him on a permanent basis.
