Arsenal are reportedly seriously considering a move to sign West Ham United transfer target Cody Gakpo in January.
That’s according to a report from The Mirror who claim that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is keen to bring in more competition and cover for the injured Gabriel Jesus.
Football Oranje claim that Gakpo could be available for around €60 million (£52 million).

The London Stadium is highly unlikely to be his destination though. It does make you think doesn’t it, why were we even showing interest in him in the first place?
And if we were in fact in for him, why didn’t we move quicker. It was so obvious that Gakpo would go on to become a top-class player like he is now. And once he strutted his stuff on the world stage out in Qatar, it was clear to see that some of the world’s biggest clubs would be in for him.
And unfortunately for the Hammers, that is now exactly the case…
Arsenal in for Cody Gakpo
The Mirror reckon that the Gunners are seriously considering a move to sign the Dutchman.
What an incredible player the 23-year-old is. He really stood out for Holland at the World Cup out in Qatar this winter.
We would have absolutely loved to see Gakpo at West Ham. He’s a terrific young talent with a really high ceiling but it will now be back to the drawing board for Moyes.
Gakpo has been described as a ‘sensational’ player by well-renowned Twitter account Dutch Football.
He has also been labelled as ‘superb’ by football journalist Josh Bunting. Meanwhile, One Football have called him a ‘world-class winger’.
Statman Dave have labelled him as ‘unreal’
He bagged a brilliant 21 goals and 14 assists in 47 games in all competitions for PSV last season (Transfermarkt).
This season, he has racked up an amazing 13 goals and 17 assists in 24 games (Transfermarkt).
The sky really is the limit for the young Dutchman. it’s hugely frustrating that West Ham didn’t sign the PSV ace last year, or even before then.
And now Arsenal seem primed to sign Cody Gakpo. What a huge shame that is.
