Should Newcastle United avoid relegation this season, Sky Sports journalist Keith Downey expects them to make a move to sign Bernd Leno.

Arsenal have already agreed a deal to sign Matt Turner from MLS side, New England Revolution, to replace Leno and there is no doubt he will be leaving Arsenal this summer.

By that point, Leno will have just one year left on his current Arsenal deal and the club will let him leave for around £5m, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Leno signed for Arsenal in 2018 but was given just three games of this season before he was replaced as the club’s number one by Aaron Ramsdale.

He’s still only 29, basically a baby when it comes to goalkeepers, and is currently valued at £14.4m although this will, naturally, diminish as he continues to sit on the bench and his contract gets shorter.

Leno is keen to move ahead of the Qatar World Cup, and because he’s too good to be sitting on a bench every week.
