A new Viktor Gyokeres twist is buying West Ham time as David Moyes waits for the Declan Rice cash to come in.

West Ham fans are well aware much of the club’s activity in the summer transfer window will revolve around the impending sale of Declan Rice.

West Ham sources stated last month that the club were in no rush to enter the summer market as they waited for what promises to be a British record £105m deal to be done for Rice.

Because that money forms the bulk of West Ham’s transfer kitty this window.

But whether the Hammers envisaged being locked in negotiations well into early July is another matter entirely.

With pre-season training to commence soon West Ham have lots of work to do in order to replace Rice and strengthen in other key areas, such as up front.

One of the club’s alleged prime targets is Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres.

West Ham boss David Moyes has spent a lot of time doing his homework on Gyokeres with The Sun claiming the Scot personally attended several Coventry games to run the rule over him ahead of a summer move.

Last week Hammers News reported that West Ham must act urgently to rescue their chances of signing all-action Swedish forward Gyokeres.

Because reports were emerging from Portugal that Sporting were closing in on beating the Hammers to the 25-year-old star.

But a new Gyokeres twist buys West Ham time as Moyes waits for the Rice transfer cash.

According to reliable journalist Alan Nixon, Sporting have failed in their bid to sign Gyokeres.

Reliable journalist claims rival bidders Sporting are OUT of Gyokeres race

Nixon claims there is a new threat to West Ham’s hopes of capturing the forward, though, from Serie A side Atalanta.

With Sporting out of the picture, West Ham have been bought valuable time to get the Rice cash in the bank and a potential deal done with Coventry for what is reportedly Moyes’ main striker target.

Speaking on his Patreon, Nixon states that Coventry want £20m after Sporting tried to sign him but couldn’t get close to the asking price.

“The Serie A side (Atalanta) hope to do a deal for the hitman but the Sky Blues are demanding around £20 million for him,” Nixon states.

“Sporting Lisbon have already tried and failed for Gyokeres but Atalanta think they can go closer to the Coventry valuation.”

This can only be good news for the Hammers as it gives them a chance to get their money in place.

Record recently claimed Coventry are hoping that the Hammers come in with a concrete offer for the Swede with Gyokeres believed to be keen on playing in the Premier League.
