David Moyes will look really silly if Manchester United activate the quirky release clause of Kim Min-jae this summer.

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up a move to sign Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae this summer according to Il Mattino – a player who West Ham boss David Moyes could have signed two years ago.

Moyes thought about bringing the 49-capped South Korea international to the London Stadium in 2021, but allegedly turned down the chance to sign him for just £2.5 million.

That now looks like a terrible mistake from the Scot. The 26-year-old has gone from strength-to-strength with Napoli over the past nine months or so.

And now Man United could be set to really rub Moyes’s nose in it…

Il Mattino reckon that Erik ten Hag wants to bring the Napoli star to Old Trafford this summer.

And Manchester United can activate his release clause, but only in a two-week period – July 1st-15th.

Tuttomercatoweb claim that the defender’s release clause is set at around €50 million (£43 million).

If the Red Devils get Kim Min-jae for that kind of fee, it really will shine a huge spotlight on Moyes’s glaring error two years ago.

Fenerbahce picked him up for just £2.5 million in 2021 from Chinese Super League outfit BJ Guoan (Transfermarkt).

And then Napoli signed him from from Fenerbahce for around £16 million in the summer of 2022 (Daily Mail).

The South Korean has since gone on to establish himself as one of the world’s very best centre-backs. He is tall, aggressive in the challenge, commanding in the air and has really impressive pace for a central defender.

The 26-year-old is a superb reader of the game as well. He has been a huge hit in Naples, forming the cornerstone of a Napoli defence that has conceded just 23 goals in 34 Serie A games this season.

How we could have done with him at the London Stadium this season.

If Manchester United sign Kim Min-jae from Manchester United this summer it really will show up David Moyes, and his poor decision making when it comes to transfers.
