David Moyes issues promising Jesse Lingard update after doubts cast over West Ham deal for free agent
Some West Ham fans have been puzzled as to why Lingard has not signed a deal by now, even though he can still join despite the passing of the Premier League squad deadline last Wednesday.
A source close to the Hammers board recently revealed the lengths the club are going to in order to prime Lingard to sign for them.
But the same source has since claimed overnight that the chances of Lingard signing a permanent deal at West Ham are ‘diminishing’.
Now Moyes has issued a promising Lingard update after doubts were cast over a West Ham deal for the free agent.
‘He’s certainly getting much more like the Jesse…’
Lingard was filmed in training with the West Ham squad ahead of their Europa League opener against TSC Backa Topola.
And speaking in his press conference ahead of that game, Moyes said the 30-year-old is getting closer to the real Lingard.
“Not really, no (any update on Lingard’s situation regarding a permanent deal),” Moyes said.
“We’re keeping him training and he joined training today as well.
“But he’s certainly getting much more like the (real) Jesse I think, in physical capabilities, than he was when we got him in four weeks ago.”
