A David Moyes confidant claims West Ham star Said Benrahma is taking matters into his own hands to force a move before the window closes.

As West Ham fans know the club must offload players before new signings can be made in the January transfer window.

The Hammers were at the maximum allowable limit in terms of wages-to-turnover heading into the winter window.

And so far only Thilo Kehrer and low earner Conor Coventry had departed from West Ham’s first team squad.

But now one of West Ham’s more saleable assets has taken drastic action to ensure he is next to leave.

West Ham star Said Benrahma taking matters into his own hands to force a move claims a David Moyes confidant.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, who counts Moyes as one of his longstanding close contacts, Benrahma has changed agents as he looks to get a move done before Thursday’s deadline.

Sun reporter Nixon claims Benrahma’s old club Brentford are also weighing up a late move but want him on the cheap.

“The Bees sold Benrahma to the Hammers but would like him to come back in a bargain move before the window shuts,” Nixon claims on his Patreon.

“Benrahma can leave West Ham if the price is right but he seems to have interest in Saudi Arabia and has recently changed agents to find him a move.

“French sides Lyon and Marseille also tried for Benrahma but Brentford are now in the mix after deciding Sunderland winger Jack Clarke is priced too high.”

Well it seems Benrahma changing agents may have done the trick.

Because Lyon have come in with an official £15 million plus add-ons offer for the 28-year-old Hammers fringe player, according to David Ornstein.

Back at the start of December we reported on Hammers News that Lyon wanted to sign Benrahma and possibly Nayef Aguerd too.

That’s after being given the green light by the DNCG, French football’s financial watchdog, to spend around £40m in January in order to save themselves from relegation to Ligue 2.

It will be interesting now if West Ham can start a late auction for Benrahma, who has been a shadow of his former self when given a chance this season.

Changing agents is not the only action Benrahma has taken. The Algerian winger also recently moved out of his Essex home too.

Should West Ham manage to offload Benrahma – and possibly Pablo Fornals and Maxwel Cornet too – then it will enable the Hammers to push for two or three signings in the last 48 hours or so of the window.
