Michail Antonio noticed something very exciting about West Ham during pre-season St Andrews trip

Hammers ace Michail Antonio spoke to reporters during West Ham United’s pre-season trip to St Andrews in Scotland.

And the 32-year-old West Ham United striker was in buoyant mood ahead of the 2022/23 season.

David Moyes has made some exciting early moves in the transfer market already, having brought in Nayef Aguerd for around £28 million.

The Scot has also made Alphonse Areola’s loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain a permanent one.

Things are looking very bright for the Hammers and if Moyes manages to bring four of five more top quality players to the London Stadium this summer, we really could be on the verge of something very special.

The Scot already has a strong group of players at his disposal, and Michail Antonio alluded to just how sharp everyone is already looking during pre-season training…

West Ham pre-season trip to St Andrews: Antonio opens up

The 32-year-old striker enjoyed a fairly successful campaign for the Hammers last term, despite tailing off during the second-half of the season.

Micky bagged 13 goals and 11 assists in 45 games for West Ham (Transfermarkt). The task for him now will be to improve upon those numbers during this upcoming season.

Antonio spoke exclusively to WHUFC.com during West Ham’s pre-season trip to St Andrews and highlighted how fit and sharp the players are already looking:

“We had a lot of games last year, and it feels like an international break just having a little time off and now we’re back in. It wasn’t much of a break, but that could help us in building on the momentum we gained last year. You can see that in the way the boys have come back, they’re still looking fit and sharp, and it’ll be the same for the boys who were away playing internationals. With the summer being shorter, it helps us to stay fit and be ready to get going from the start.”

That’s extremely exciting to hear for the West Ham fans.

If the Hammers players are already looking that sharp after just a few days of pre-season training, imagine what they’ll be like when the Premier League season kicks off in August.

The 2022/23 campaign could be an unbelievably exciting one for the club’s fans, both in the Premier League and on the continent.

And judging by Antonio’s observations from West Ham’s pre-season St Andrews trip, the boys are all in fine shape already ahead of what will be a long and physically taxing campaign.
