Manchester United want to beat West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur in Axel Disasi race

Manchester United are eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United transfer target, Axel Disasi, as per the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old centre-back made his international debut for France at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in France, where he made three appearances. He has been a solid player for Monaco, where he has scored thrice and provided assists in 25 games across competitions this season.

But the exposure that a World Cup appearance can give a player is arguably unmatched. Spurs and the Hammers have been linked with the defender, and the Lilywhites’ interest in him hardly comes as a surprise.

The club can really use a quality centre-back to play alongside Cristian Romero week in, week out. Eric Dier and Ben Davies do the job for now but both of them did not play as centre-backs during the formative years of their careers.

Spurs must hurry

Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez just haven’t been up to the mark under manager Antonio Conte. Hence, Disasi would be a welcome addition at N17.

But Man United could pose a headache. They want to sign the Frenchman despite Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, and Victor Lindelof already in their squad.

Recently, Luke Shaw did his best Ben Davies impression and put in two solid performances at centre-back. Hopefully, this overload of options at the back puts Disasi off if Man United make an approach for him.

Spurs, on paper, can offer him a better chance of being a regular starter and perhaps so can West Ham. If Tottenham are to move, they must do it quickly given United’s interest in the player.

However, it remains to be seen if the Monegasques are open to letting another influential homegrown defender leave after Benoit Badiashile’s transfer to Chelsea this month.
