Manchester united manager Erik ten Hag has Celtic right-back Josip Juranovic in his sights ahead of the January transfer window.

That’s according to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb who claim that United may have to battle Chelsea for the Croatia World Cup star’s signature.

Right-back is an area where Ten Hag needs to strengthen at Old Trafford. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been heavily linked with an exit from the club, and more competition and cover is required for Diogo Dalot.

And it appears as though the United boss has one man in particular in mind for the job.

Manchester United eyeing Josip Juranovic

The Celtic ace, 27, is on United’s radar according to Italian publication TMW. Whilst the Croatian is a very solid right-back, Ten Hag should be setting his sights higher.

Having said that, sometimes it is difficult to attract a player to your club when all that is on offer is a back-up role.

The Celtic star impressed for Croatia during the World Cup out in Qatar. He possesses impressive pace and is very strong in the challenge. Juranovic’s stamina allows him to contribute at both ends of the pitch.

Gary Neville told ITV Sport (13/12, 6:45 pm) that he thinks Juranovic was ‘absolutely brilliant’ in Qatar and especially ‘fantastic’ going forward.

Considering Neville’s pedigree as a right-back, that is really high praise indeed.

Juranovic certainly wouldn’t be a bad addition for United. At the same time though, it wouldn’t be a signing that would capture the imagination of the United fans, that’s for sure.
