Current free-agent, Freddy Adu, has urged Man United to make their move for Sergino Dest.

Over the summer, Manchester United made plenty of transfer moves, with Erik ten Hag looking to start building a squad that fits his style of play.

It goes without saying, it was always going to take time. There was too much work to undertake in one transfer window, hence, Ten Hag will need patience from the fans and powers-that-be.

One name the club was linked with was Sergino Dest. The right-back, who is technically a Barcelona player, but currently on loan at Inter Milan, is highly thought of by the gaffer.

No move came to fruition. Probably because Aaron Wan-Bissaka couldn’t be moved on. Simply put, there’s not space for three senior right-backs within the club and Diogo Dalot isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Well, once again, United have been urged to make their move for Dest. This time, it’s his compatriot and fellow pro, Freddy Adu, singing his praises. He believes Dest would be a ‘great signing’ for United, while holding ‘hope’ that this transfer will happen.

Check out what Adu had to say on a potential Man United move for Dest here:

‘I think he’d be a great signing for Man U – the way he plays, he’s so good in his position and with the current state of Manchester United right now, they need as many good players as they can get,’ Adu told Offers.Bet, per The Metro.

‘The team isn’t exactly the Manchester United that we have come to know.

‘They’re still playing well and they’ve got better and playing better, but they are far from the Manchester United that we come to remember.

‘I hope he does go there as I think he would help the team out a lot.’

First and foremost, the fact he calls us ‘Man U’ leaves me feeling a little queasy, but that’s relatively unimportant.

Dest is highly thought of by teammates and pundits alike. Though he’s not a player I’ve watched regularly. I do get the impression he’d be a much better fit for the Ten Hag style of play than the aforementioned Wan-Bissaka, though. That alone leads me to believe this transfer would be another step in the right direction.

Dalot is someone who is in cracking form right now. You cannot take that away from him. Perhaps he’d start to play even better with some tougher competition for places. Dest strikes me as someone who’d immediately challenge for starts as soon as he’d walk through the door.

There’s also the price-tag you’d have to factor in. I’d imagine Barca won’t demand too much to let the 22-year-old leave – though nothing would happen until next summer at the earliest due to the fact that Dest is currently out on loan until that point.
