Man United are doing their best to ‘hijack’ a move to bring Tyrell Malacia to the club.
I’m honestly not sure where you start when it comes to Manchester United’s transfer business. Signings are needed practically all over the field, meaning every transfer rumour makes sense in some way, shape or form.
A player the Old Trafford club have been loosely linked with recently is Feyenoord full-back, Tyrell Malacia.
With Luke Shaw and Alex Telles often blowing hot and cold, you can certainly see the logic behind potentially moving for a new left-back.
Well, the Old Trafford club are now ready to firm up their interest and make a move for Malacia.
According to Fabrizio Romano, United are ‘trying to hijack’ Lyon’s deal to sign the 22-year-old. The Italian journalist claims a ‘full verbal agreement’ was reached with Lyon, though United have ‘jumped in’ before the deal was signed.
Now, talks with Feyenoord, in an effort to reach an agreement, are now taking place. Romano also confirms, interestingly, that Malacia has the same agent as a certain Frenkie de Jong…
I’m not going to sit here and tell you how Malacia will be the ideal fit for United, though you’d imagine that Ten Hag knows all about the Dutchman from his spell over in the Eredivisie with Ajax.
Telles and Shaw were pretty underwhelming last term and their awful positioning was part of the reason why our defence was so bad. If Ten Hag believes Malacia can make United a little stronger in that position then I’m all for it.
It would give the gaffer one less problem to worry about, though it’d also mean one of Telles or Shaw is likely to be moved on. At this point, you’d imagine it’s the Brazilian’s head on the chopping block.
