Man United sweating on Casemiro availability for midweek Nottingham Forest FA Cup tie – Old Trafford Faithful

Man United are now sweating on the fitness of Casemiro, ahead of a pretty huge FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest.

Manchester United lost their first Premier League game in 2024 last time out, as Fulham scored a late winner at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The result was compounded by yet another injury blow, with Erik ten Hag potentially losing another key face. This time, it’s Casemiro.

The man from Brazil was involved in a nasty clash of heads with Fulham’s Harrison Reed, with the ex-Real Madrid man unable to continue after suffering the blow.

United are now sweating on the fitness of the player ahead of Wednesday’s FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest. The quick turnaround in between games makes things even more difficult for Casemiro.

After the game on Saturday, the official club website did confirm that Casemiro will be assessed, though if it is a concussion, which is a real possibility, there’s no way he’d be passed fit to play. No doubt that’s absolutely the correct decision as head injuries can be extremely serious.

The problem here is that United would be once again losing another key part of their spine. Lisandro Martinez is already out. Rasmus Hojlund is missing. Now, they’re possibly set to be without their defensive midfielder.

Yes, Casemiro hasn’t been at his best since returning from injury, though United are still a better side with him in the team. Sofyan Amrabat has hardly set the world alight, Scott McTominay is better higher up the pitch while Kobbie Mainoo is more a box-to-box player at this point in his career.

If Casemiro is unable to go on Wednesday, it will be interesting to see who Erik ten Hag opts for as his replacement.
