Man United still remain admirers of Leicester City midfielder, Youri Tielemans.
Any club worth their salt will always be proactive in the transfer market, rather than reactive. Erik ten Hag strikes me as a manager who is always looking to improve the playing squad, regardless of how well the lads already at the club are doing right now.
One name consistently linked with a Red Devils switch over the years is Youri Tielemans. The Belgian international, a key player for Leicester City, was rumoured to be interested in a United switch when he left AS Monaco back in 2019. In the end, though, he moved to the King Power.
Tielemans’ levels have remained consistent ever since. He’s an excellent footballer who is capable of taking it to that elite level on any given matchday. It makes sense then, to learn United remain ‘admirers’ of the 25-year-old – though they’re not alone in that regard.
Apparently, Tielemans has ‘plenty’ of clubs sniffing around, with the report coming from ESPN. The Belgian’s contract expires this summer, meaning he remains available for a knockdown fee this month.
Obviously, United would have to act quickly to get this deal done, with the transfer window shutting tomorrow.
With Christian Eriksen picking up an injury over the weekend, and leaving the stadium on crutches, this feels like a move United should at least explore.
Tielemans could fill that void nicely, with the potential deal made even more appealing due to the fact that it’d be a cut-price move for a high-level footballer. You’d imagine that Tielemans would only continue to improve as a player under this coach, too.
To me, this one feels like it has an outside shot at happening right now, though at this time in the transfer window, things can happen quickly…
