Man United are monitoring Marcus Thuram, ahead of the striker becoming a free agent.
Manchester United still has a rather big hole in the final third, with Cristiano Ronaldo no longer a Red Devil.
With the Glazer family trying to sell, the situation has become infinitely more complicated. The club don’t want to spend big money in this transfer window as a result, meaning it’s likely a hole that’ll remain in the squad until the summer.
With Erik ten Hag seemingly trying to get a jump on the competition, the Dutchman is already working hard on potential options to fill that void. Enter, Marcus Thuram.
The latest information from CaughtOffside states that the Frenchman is ‘creeping into the conversation’ at United. Apparently, the club are ‘monitoring’ the situation of the player, with the 25-year-old all set to become a free agent this coming summer.
Thuram, who currently plies his trade for Borussia Monchengladbach, will no doubt have a plethora of options when the time comes.
The striker has an impressive 17 goals in 13 games across all competitions this term, while also being a fully-fledged France international. He’s featured five times for his country in 2022.
Thuram on a free transfer feels too good to be true. He’d be the perfect fit for this system, while also being able to play out wide if needed.
Ten Hag loves that versatility within his players, though no doubt he’s after a specialist number nine at this juncture, or you’d have imagined United would have pushed harder to sign Cody Gakpo.
I just hope United can get a jump on their rivals and try to get this deal done sooner rather than later. Though I have my doubts.
