Hannibal Mejbri is ready to showcase his talents to the footballing world.

Manchester United’s season is quickly winding down to a disappointing conclusion. The Red Devils will not win any trophies this season. That has already been decided.

Behind the scenes, the search for a new manager is ongoing. Hopefully, we’ll have a new man in place relatively soon. Gary Neville certainly seems to think so.

Ahead of that hire, with very little left to play for, it seems smart to see what some of the next generation can offer. Our academy is overflowing with insane talent. Why not see what they’ve got in their locker?

Perhaps the biggest talent on our books right now is Hannibal Mejbri. He clearly feels that he’s approaching the stage in his career where he deserves that opportunity.

The United starlet has admitted that he’s waiting for his chance but as soon as that arises, he’ll prove his worth and ‘show what he can do’.

Check out the comments by Hannibal Mejbri in full here:

“All the experience to gain, I’ll take it, whether it be in training, on the bench or, even if I’ve not had the chance play yet,” he told TN Sport, transcribed by the MEN Live Blog. “But maybe in the future… As soon as I get the chance, I’ll take the experience I have and I’ll show what I can do.”

“Of course, he [Rangnick] encourages us, because the more players that go to the World Cup, the better it is for the club, but no special message.”

Hannibal has been superb to watch at both U18 and U23 level over the last couple of seasons, improving week-on-week. He’s already regularly training with the first team, hinting that Ralf Rangnick already believes he’s almost ready to play at the senior level.

With Paul Pogba looking like leaving this summer, there could be an opening within the squad. Nobody is expecting Hannibal to come right in and fill those big boots left by our number six, but in the long-term, United may well have the replacement for the World Cup winner already on their books in the form of Mejbri.

Right now, Hannibal is away with the Tunisian national team. Again, this is another learning experience for the young midfielder. He’ll be given the opportunity to ply his trade against some of the best international players in the world. This’ll only serve him well upon his return to Old Trafford next week.

As soon as United find themselves in a position where it’s not mathematically possible to qualify for next season’s Champions League, the likes of Hannibal simply have to be given chances to play.

Should Hannibal Mejbri be given some first-team opportunities this season? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
