Man United looking at Casemiro as possible midfield signing – Old Trafford Faithful

Man United are looking at possibly moving for Real Madrid midfielder, Casemiro.

Erik ten Hag has spent the summer chasing the signature of Frenkie de Jong. The Old Trafford club have been unsuccessful in that pursuit thus far.

The Dutch midfielder’s preference has always been to remain at FC Barcelona. To this point, no agreement has been reached between the player.

It’s about that time in the transfer window when it makes sense to weigh up other options. Several names have been linked, though today, Casemiro is the latest potential transfer target.

Marca state that United have identified the classy 30-year-old as a ‘possible reinforcement’ for their struggling midfield. Given the ‘complexity’ of the De Jong deal, the Real Madrid man has been viewed as an alternative to the current Barcelona star.

As things stand, no official proposal has been made, while Casemiro’s positive relationship with Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti means this one instantly looks like an uphill battle.

Factor in United’s struggles, lack of Champions League football and this one absolutely looks like a non-starter. Let’s face it, who in their right mind would leave the current Champions League winners for a team who are sitting bottom of the Premier League table…?

All that said, there’s no doubting Casemiro would be a direct upgrade on any of our current midfielders. Aged 30, he’d bring experience, a winning mentality and it helps that he’d be an ideal fit for the new system.

Sadly, United no longer have that pull. Casemiro making this move can only be described as career suicide in the hunt for one final big payday.

Do you think Casemiro would be a good signing for Man United? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
