Man United ‘hopeful’ of Raphael Varane return next week vs Wolves – Old Trafford Faithful

Man United could have Raphael Varane back as they gear up to take on Wolves next weekend.

That second half against Sevilla at Old Trafford was a disaster. Manchester United threw away a two-goal lead, while also losing two of their best players through injury; Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

The former was pretty much instantly ruled out for the season, whereas the latter’s problem was expected to be long-term. However, there have recently been whispers suggesting Varane could be fit for the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

Well, the Manchester Evening News have provided a massively positive update on that front. They claim that United are ‘hopeful’ the key star could make his injury comeback against Wolves next week.

Varane has been missing for three weeks. To their credit, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof have done superbly in his absence. However, having Rapha back would be massive.

If the Frenchman is indeed fit to play some part against Wolves next weekend, that’d give him three weeks to get fully up to speed before the Wembley showpiece against our noisy neighbours.

Varane’s class and quality could be a huge strength as United look to close out their season strong with a top four finish and potentially another trophy in the cabinet.

The fact that Rapha being back is even a possibility so early on gives us all hope that he absolutely will be back for the June 3rd game against City. No doubt he’d partner Lindelof at the back, allowing Shaw to move to his more familiar left-back slot.

Let’s hope Varane suffers no further injury setbacks and he’s good to help his teammates close out the season in a strong manner.
